Today, The Register, pointed me in the direction of Jonathan Rosenberg's blog. As a Senior Product VP at Google Inc .

Jonathan Rosenberg, published his blog, originally as an internal communication, on US President's Day, and Entitled 'From the Height of this place'. He has since decided to share it with a wider audience. In it borrows key phrases from various US Presidential Inauguration speeches, and outlines Google's challenges and aspirations, for it's future, the future of data exchange, and Google's expectations in meeting those challenges in the coming four years or so. It's a very interesting piece of writing, reads easily, yet contains many implications and outlines some new, and interesting ideas.
Earlier in the day, I was trying to work out a solution to meet the website requirement of a friend of mine, and realised, the solution was already out there, and required only to be integrated, in this case, using Ebay as a pilot payment solution rather than establishing a new CC merchant agreement or designing one from scratch. Similarly, some months back, when another friend was asking whether I had the skills to design an online calendar to book a local facility, I ventured the use of Google Mail & Google Calendar might be suitable, and considerably cheaper and faster to implement. Just a few of the features of this Internet age, James was alluding to, which are already there.
I know I'm a bit slow on the uptake, but Jonathan helped me realise, we have the data, we have the applications, and now we're beginning to catalogue, them, bring them together, and use them intelligently.
